Review – Souls of Mischief

Marble Factory, 1st March

The legendary hip hop collective souls of mischief from Oakland, California graced the stage in Bristol at a packed out Marble factory on Wednesday night as part of their world tour.

The sound produced through those speakers took me back to an era of hip hop that will always have a place lodged in my ears and heart. Drawing influence from Jazz and Funk with witty punchlines and complex rhyme flows and paterns backed by timeless beats. On stage spouting love and positivity and interacting with the crowd throughout, fully embodying their lyrics “i give it all ive got, it’s all ive got to give” in their performances. Energy levels were peaking and the venue was wall to wall smiles, the vibe was truly beautiful. This tour a celebration of 30 years of 93 till infinity,  released back in 1993. You can really tell that some of these guys have been besties since junior school, its clear to see on stage.

I feel privileged to have seen SOM live, and perform as tight as they did! The night was a total success. The highlight of the performance was saved till last, in the form of the track 93 till infinity, the crowd singing along to every lyric. A true hip hop anthem that set off waves of excitement and pure joy in the venue, god i love live music! That beat.. still running through my ears now.

Thank you @soulsofmischeif
