Review – Enter Shikari

SWX, 18th March

Bristol residency 2 of 3

Enter Shikari never do things half assed, they’re either go hard or go home.

The band played their second of three residency shows at SWX in Bristol, with another sold out show after the first one in February. The packed crowd were warmed up by Cody Frost & As Everything Unfolds, both insane bands in their own right. Enter Shikari opened their set starting with “Its Hurts”, off their new album “A Kiss For The Whole World” which will grace our ear drums on April 21st. Following on from this opener, Shikari flipped between old and newer songs, such as Juggernauts, Dreamers Hotel, and Hectic to really rip the crowd into an adrenaline fueled mosh pit frenzy. It didn’t even get to the end of the second song before the security had their work cut out for them, with fans crowd surfing to the front. The rest of the bands set was a bit more nostalgic, playing more songs from older albums like Common Dreads & Take To The Skies than the might have done for a ‘normal’ tour setlist, not that anything this band do is normal.

Anyone who attended the first residency show and this one will have been assured value for money with a great contrast between the two gigs.

Shikari showing just how deep their back catalogue goes.

There is little doubt now that those lucky enough to have tickets to all three shows will have three definite and different ES experiences.

Residency done right ✔️

its clear to see by the crowd reaction it Enter Shikari are one of the best bands on the circuit right now, and the new album is going to be yet more pit inducing goodness. I can’t wait to see what the April show has in store for Bristol.

By the time the dust has settled on the final show I fully expect a strong petition to be underway to grant Enter Shikari the freedom of the city.
