It’s got funk and soul coming out of every orifice – a hugely promising debut” JOE.IE

Hailing from Tramore, Ireland, soul, pop and funk artist TOUCAN (aka Conor Clancy) is set to release his first new music since 2020 with the soulful new single ‘Don’t Understand Why’, out 9th February.

Radiating with rich summer groove, ‘Don’t Understand Why’ is a swell of glistening neo-soul guided by Conor’s distinctive and effortlessly smooth vocal. Feeling both timeless and of-the-moment, its happy-go-lucky bounce and bright bursts of brass are a welcome ray of sunshine for a traditionally bleak winter month and heralds the beginning of a new chapter for the rising singer songwriter who has been likened to artists such as Stevie Wonder, George Ezra, and Rag’n’Bone Man.

TOUCAN: I’ve spent the last couple of years getting the sound to be exactly as I want it, and I’m buzzing to get this song out there. I’ve had a bit of a break from releasing new music, and I think “Don’t Understand Why” is the perfect track to kickstart the year of new releases – it’s bright, upbeat, and still laid back and groovy. It’s got a feel-good factor that’s become an integral part of the TOUCAN sound.

TOUCAN, aka Conor Clancy, is a pop, funk, and soul artist from Tramore, Ireland. After releasing his debut single, ‘We Fell For Miles’, he quickly gained fans from around the world, accumulating over 3 million streams on Spotify. Over the last few years, he has built up a cult following, playing sold-out shows across Ireland and the UK in venues such as the iconic Whelan’s, The Academy Dublin, Belfast’s Cyprus Avenue, and OMEARA in London.

Since releasing his two EPs, he’s appeared at Electric Picnic, Other Voices, Knockanstockan, The Cork Jazz Festival, Mostly Jazz Funk & Soul, Love Supreme, and Meltdown Festival in the year curated by Nile Rodgers. Combining a classic soulful style with modern pop sensibilities, TOUCAN’s music has an infectious feel-good factor and music that sounds timeless.
