Review – Dream State

The Exchange, 20th February

The South Wales superstars Dream State kicked off their Untethered EP tour with a sold out show at the iconic Exchange in Bristol on Monday night.

The widely anticipated EP dropped at the start of the month and we were eager to hear it live and in the flesh following such a great critical reception.

The band were supported by Adharma and Led By Lanterns who warmed the crowd up ready for the main event.

After the departure of former band members in 2022, the new line up fronted by Jessie were obviously keen to show the world who Dream State are in this refreshed guise, and they did not disappoint.

Introducing new elements into their songs to accompany to the heavy rock music, such as Comfort in Chaos and Taunt Me, Dream State nearly blew the roof off. The tightly packed venue frothing at the mouth as they absorbed fan favourites such as White Lies and Primrose, the whole band were clearly having a great time on stage and that reflected through the crowd, with mosh pits, crowd surfing and lots of singalongs and angry finger pointing happening throughout the set.

This truly does feel like a new era for the band. Less of a reset, more of a new chapter in a story many of us have had so much pleasure in already. All momentum is pointing one way and they can only go up from here on in.
