Preview – Snooper, The Lanes, November 11th

Nashville’s Snõõper make their UK debut next week with a limited tour, including 3 dates in London, one of which is sold-out as well as supporting Sleater Kinney as part of Pitchfork London.

Their debut album Super Snõõper was released earlier this year to critical acclaim via Jack White’s Third Man Records, and the band have built their reputation on their raucous live shows, thrilling spectacles which integrate a slew of different artistic mediums — music, video art, puppetry, assemblages and more — to create a unique experience for each performance.

Backed by Henry Rollins who described the album as a “megadose of extremely cool and unique songs”, Snõõper have had praise from the likes of Pitchfork, NME, The Sunday Times, The FADER, Stereogum, The Line Of Best Fit, Kerrang! Magazine, CLASH, and have even been added to the BBC6 Music Playlist.

What people have been saying about Snõõper:

  • “Most songs on Super Snõõper hover manically around the one-minute mark, and play like wind-up toys with an overwound key, cramming in memorable choruses, hooky riffs and surprisingly nuanced arrangements […] they are perfect little creations.” – Brooklyn Vegan
  • “fitting 16 tracks into 24 minutes is an impressive feat alone, it never wavers in energy or originality, remaining consistently thrilling and entertaining” – CLASH 8/10
  • “it’s an exhilarating endorphin rush you’ll want to return to again and again.” – Kerrang! Magazine 4/5
  • “In a genre that can be more than a little guilty of taking itself too seriously, Snõõper are devotedly silly.” – NME
  • “Snõõper are at their happiest while sprinting between riled-up punk, garage rock, and new wave, so prepare for your heart rate to spike when tagging along for the ride.” – Pitchfork
  • “The five-piece promises a thrilling venture for 2023” – So Young
  • “With songs that explode like a nailbomb and travel at a breakneck speed while retaining the precision of a Formula 1 driver, Super Snõõper feels as extravagant and lawless as child’s play.” – Stereogum
  • “You can probably finish a cup of coffee in the time it takes to listen to [Super Snõõper], but there are layers to the group’s bite-sized blasts of guitar noise that will have you coming back for more.” – The FADER
  • “They’re fire-branding a whole new look for punky indie fare having already evolved into the blown-up superbeing“ – The Line Of Best Fit
  • “Cummins and Teeple tuning their guitars to some kind of a wild-pitched rockabilly setting and Tramel leaning hard into the ‘earnest rube utterly confused by the modern world’ lyrical act.” – The Quietus
  • “this album wastes no time in establishing the band’s bold and brash identity.” – The Skinny ★★★★
  • “What a fabulous racket.” – The Sunday Times
