Bristol Beacon brings the music to Belmont Estate’s enchanting Walled Garden Amphitheatre
Belmont Estate and Bristol Beacon are bringing a weekend of music and food to the beautiful walled garden amphitheatre on 22nd and 23rd July, a unique opportunity to experience one of the most stunning locations in the South West.
Belmont Estate’s Walled Garden will be the setting for a weekend of open-air music, food and drink in July as Kevin Figes’ jazz sextet You Are Here and the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra String Ensemble visit the renowned 300-year old rural venue.
Performing on Saturday July 22nd, Kevin Figes’ You Are Here is a tribute to the late pianist Keith Tippett, performing a selection of the Bristolian musical legend’s epic compositions alongside those of Soft Machine’s Elton Dean and Figes’ originals. Belmont Estate’s tranquil surroundings will provide the perfect backdrop for an afternoon of jazz.
The following afternoon, Sunday July 23rd, the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra String Ensemble will take listeners through a journey spanning 450 years of music history in the idyllic Walled Garden. Its stunning tiered amphitheatre will provide the perfect spot to bask in afternoon sunshine with family and friends while the orchestral ensemble serenades the audience with Music of Reflection, a programme that features much loved and popular orchestral pieces by JS Bach and Corelli to Arvo Pärt and Jessie Montgomery.
Alongside the music, guests can enjoy street food from Pizzarova plus wine, local organic cider, soft drinks and Bristol-brewed beers at the venue’s Potting Shed pub.
Todd Wills, Artistic Director at Bristol Beacon explains;
“We are pleased to be returning to Belmont Estate for the second year to stage more one-off performances in what is one of the most unusual and beautiful outdoor spaces we use at the Beacon, surrounded by rolling countryside and the estate’s rustic walls. We’ve chosen the line-up carefully to match the intimate, relaxed environment of this amazing venue. We can’t wait to welcome everyone into the secluded Walled Garden.”
Henry Rossiter, Business Director at Belmont Estate says;
“We’re excited to be partnering with Bristol Beacon for the second year to host open-air concerts in our Walled Garden amphitheatre. We believe in the importance of bringing people together to connect with nature so what better way to experience our wilder landscape than an afternoon of music, food and sunshine in our Walled Garden just outside Bristol.”
These events form part of Bristol Beacon’s Sustainable Travel Pilot Programme, part of their aim to become Net Zero by 2030. As audience travel makes up 62% of the venue’s carbon footprint, Bristol Beacon is encouraging attendees to help reduce the climate impact of these shows by choosing a more sustainable way to travel to Belmont Estate, such as public transport or bicycle. Audience members who travel by bicycle or bus to the concerts will receive a free drink from the bar. Just show your bike helmet or bus ticket at the entrance to receive your voucher.
For anyone that travels by bus, Listers Lexus Bristol will be providing a free car shuttle from the Belmont Hill bus stop to the Walled Garden entrance.
Gates open at 12:30pm for both concerts with the performers expected on stage from 2:00 – 4:00 pm. Visitors of all ages are welcome with those under 18’s accompanied by an adult.
Adult tickets are priced at £30.52 including booking fee. Under 16 tickets are priced at £15.26 including booking fees and under 12s go free but still require a ticket.
