Billy Ocean Celebrates 40 Years of ‘Suddenly’ with a Star-Studded Tour Stop in Chipping Sodbury

Legendary vocalist and international chart-topper Billy Ocean returns to the stage with The Very Best of Billy Ocean tour, marking four decades since the release of his seminal 1984 album Suddenly. A defining voice of the ’80s, Ocean is beloved for genre-crossing mega-hits like Caribbean Queen, When the Going Gets Tough, and Get Outta My Dreams, Get Into My Car. A Grammy winner for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance, Ocean’s storied career was reignited in recent years with a MOBO Lifetime Achievement Award, a return to chart prominence, and a well-deserved MBE.

Sharing the stage are disco royalty Sister Sledge, whose music remains a blueprint for soulful dancefloor anthems. Known for their infectious energy and undeniable harmony, the group’s legacy is anchored by the iconic We Are Family—a song so culturally resonant it earned a place in both the Grammy Hall of Fame and the U.S. Library of Congress’s National Recording Registry. Fans can expect a set packed with beloved classics, including Lost in Music, Thinking of You, He’s the Greatest Dancer, and of course, the timeless We Are Family.

Kicking the night off in style is pop favourite Chesney Hawkes, bringing his high-octane energy and singalong hit The One and Only to get the party started. Opening the evening is rising star Ella Gaitely, setting the tone with a fresh, captivating performance.

This is more than a concert—it’s a celebration of musical legacy and enduring hits, all taking place in the heart of Chipping Sodbury.
