Review – Say It Anyway

The Crofters Rights, 6th May 2023

Some bands are recording bands, some bands are live bands …. @sayitanywayuk are definitely the latter. A explosion of noise, fun, colour and charisma that was utterly irresistible. No one was going to be allowed to leave that dark, square room unless they were covered in sweat and grinning ear to ear.

Forming from a unholy & beautiful union of The Run Up & Save Your Breath, Say It Anyway certainly come with some pedigree. Having toured alongside and shared the stage with heavyweights such as New Found Glory, The Wonder Years, Neck Deep, Spanish Love Songs and The Story So Far, and playing festivals; SLAM DUNK, THE FEST (FL), BOOZE CRUISE FESTIVAL.

And they certainly know there way around a stage. Collectively playing well over 400 shows and festivals across more than 20 countries.

The anglo Bristol / Welsh band are led from the front by the highly dynamic and ridiculously charismatic Kristian Richards. Who spent that much time off stage moshing with the crowd he really shoulda bought a ticket.

The fact Kris is able to be so expressive and have practically unlimited freedom is in no small part down to the platform bandmates Charlie Parsons, Loz Nelson, Stu Lloyd and Daniel Baker create for him.

The 7 song set has the feel of being at a house party with yer mates, who decided to pick up their instruments and put on a impromptu show for you.

The energy from all 5 members is contagious and the sound has a raw and underground edge to it.

The fact they make such a high energy show look so, so easy testament to the individual musicians experience.

Sure the band are no twenty somethings, but I tell you what… they put a LOT of younger bands to shame.

A solid set, from a solid band that I absolutely hope to catch live again very soon.
