Review – Bitter Kisses

The Crofters Rights, 6th May 2023

Bitter Kisses have already established themselves as one of our favourite vices.

Bursting on the scene in 2022, we have already managed to capture them live three times. The band quickly becoming a staple across the city with their beautifully witch crafted, dark pop, gothic rock sound.

A sound that plunges a knife deep in your heart as it french kisses you at the same time. Only to bring you back with a statically charged defibrillator just so they can stab you again.

A promoters dream of a band, they tick all the boxes for a unique look, sound and energy that can rattle bones and envelope souls.

Not only are the four piece getting tighter every single time we see them. They are now also in possession of a crossbow armed with sharpened musical arrows. That fire a cascade of rift driven goodness straight into the brain. Tracks like electro pop banger “Pr*y” and the thumping new black hearted release “Doctor’s Note” showcase the diversity of sound the band are capable of. And trust us they sound even better live. For its on stage when all four members of the band really come into their own.

Jolting and jumping like a family of Frankenstein’s monsters plugged directly into the mains electricity supply of the venue. A silhouette of pirouetting shapes occasionally caught in strobe lighting.

After expending every ounce of energy the band slump to the floor as the set concludes.

Bitter Kisses are an absolute pleasure to watch, shoot and review.
