Review – Outer Realm Mini Fest, raising funds for independent Bristol music festival Outer Town 2024

Outer Town’s very own mini festival and fundraiser event, Outer Realm, took place on Friday, hosting some of Bristol’s hottest artists. Broadsheets kicked off the night, followed by Damefrisør, whose shoegaze-y tunes echoed through the Exchange Main Room once again after being one of the acts that took the stage at the first edition of Outer Town back in 2022.

Producer and vocalist Tlya X An (TXN) dominated the stage shortly after and was able to win over the room with her silky melodies, catchy beats, and captivating stage presence. Bristol’s favourite alt-pop duo, Try Me, who were featured at both previous editions of Outer Town, know how to get the party going. Despite technical difficulties and some clever improvisation, the duo has the unique ability to transmit their infectious energy onto the crowd immediately.

Outer Town 2024 will take place on Saturday, April 13th and will include Bristol’s iconic Trinity Centre as the festival’s new central hub with a DIY market, food, bar, and more, replacing the old location of Moor Brewery and decreasing the walking distance between venues. The first wave of artists will be announced on Friday, September 29th, so keep your eyes peeled on their socials to not miss any announcements!

Qualifications: First Class BA (hons) degree in Music Business at BIMM Bristol, first year certificate (Propedeuse) in Journalism at the University of Applied Sciences Utrecht

Available for: gigs, shoots (mainly portraits) and tours!

First gig attended: technically Guus Meeuwis when I was younger (Dutch pop artist), first gig I bought a ticket for with my own money was One Direction on their Where We Are tour, but first ‘proper’ gig was Foals and Everything Everything in Amsterdam in 2016!

First shoot: Frank and Beans at The Crofters Rights early 2022, but first photo pass was Mayday Parade, Real Friends and As It Is at the Marble Factory on June 1st 2022

Dream gig: there are a couple of line-ups that I would love so it’s hard to choose, but I’d love to shoot Harry Styles one day
