Review – Don Broco w/Noisy & Kid Brunswick

Bristol O2 Academy, Tuesday 9th November 2021

KID BRUNSWICK

Opening up for Don Broco on Tuesday night at the O2 in Bristol @kidbrunswick showed us why he is the “Grunge Lord”

A hype performer , by which we mean the sort of performer that can walk into a dead room but have everyone jumping by the end.

It’s a testament to Kid Brunswick that within the first two songs the floor was packed and people started flooding through the doors of the main hall.

The infectious, upbeat nature of his performance naturally gets a crowd popping. And the beats that were dropped do the same. Building a solid repertoire of bangers Kid Brunswick is definitely one to watch over the coming year.

NOISY

Noisy by name, noisy by nature..

The three lads from Worthing may be a force to be reckoned with on stage, but they also come across as very likeable, humble individuals. That are insanely happy to be back doing what they love most.

We lost count of the amount of times they asked they crowd if they were ok after some monster pits. They appeared gracious and genuine when receiving a rapturous reception from the packed crowd at the end.

Their sound is unmistakably from the working class streets of the UK. Gruff, raw, rough n ready. Spanning a mix of hip hop, pop, rap and jungle beats. It’s that diversity that enables them to connect in different ways to different people.

The trio spanned the gap between Kid Brunswick & Don Broco perfectly on Tuesday night. Delivering a punchy mix that had the crowd jumping and smiling. They’ve no doubt earned themselves a new swathe of fans of the back of Tuesdays performance.

Don Broco

Best….GIG….2021…Hands down, no argument, anyone there will surely agree.

The energy in the room that night, the energy on a stage is still giving me goosebumps.

This felt like a new Don Broco. An angry, pissed off Don Broco. And that go hard or go home attitude permeated into the capacity crowd.

Don Broco are like a fine wine, the younger version full of vigour and potential, but maturity has brought out all the flavour & character. We are left wondering if lockdown has brought about a heavier, edgier version of the band that pre Covid was always simmering, but has now been brought to the surface in glorious technicolour.

New album “Amazing Things” has a much more in your face, pissed off and confrontational feel to it. Songs like “Gumshield”, “Uber” and “Manchester Super Reds no1 fan” (best song title of the year by the way) have a real message for society under the hood of their ultra catchy lyrics & beat. Indeed it was the new album that made up the bulk of the set, but the fully energised crowd were also treated to staples such as “COTLA”, “Everybody” & “T-Shirt Song”. @kidbrunswick the opener for the evening also joining on stage for “Action”. The support had done a great job of whipping the crowd up, so the first appearance of DB on stage itself was met with the first of many mosh pits of a crazy night. This was one of those shows where the crowd were feeding off the band. And the band feeding off the crowd.

I’ve always liked Don Broco, it’s fair to say I now love Don Broco & will happily part with any kind of cash to see them play live again. This show will take some beating.
Oh… and if you’ve not seen “Bruce Willis” performed live, then you’ve not lived 🤘🏻🖤🤘🏻
