Review – Dead Rubber Dolls

The Crofters Rights March 20th 2022

If you’ve heard “Pillow Talk” the debut EP from Bristol’s own Dead Rubber Dolls you’ll understand perfectly why we were so excited to pop along to Crofters Rights and be a part of the EP’s launch party.

By the time DRD hit the stage the busy crowd had been suitably warmed up by @spitfiretidesband @aniimalia_uk & @misskill_band allowing Carly and co to hit the ground running. The Debut EP might have taken a while to finally become a reality, but the Hard Alt Rock 5 piece are no slouches. Honing their live performances with a string of live dates around the city.
This gig felt different though, special. And we were happy to be a part of what feels like the start of something.

Fuzzing through a nine song set, that included the likes of “Name in Vain” and “Sex and Wine” the band fizz with confidence and playfulness. The tunes permeated with catchy hooks and giants riffs.

My personal highlight was “Thoughts & Prayers” the opening 60 seconds of that track epitomises the DRD sound. The gig had to end unfortunately, but what a way to finish it. DWFYA is a low down dirty track in all the right ways.

Our verdict? Yeah DRD nailed it.
