Review – Wargasm w / BVDLVD

Lost Horizon, October 21s4 2021

This was easily one of our most anticipated gigs since our beloved venues reopened. & our first ever visit to Lost Horizon (what a great new addition to the Bristol music scene)
Wargasm are on less of a roll/more of a tsunami, such is the hype & praise they’ve garnered since the summer. (explosive, critically acclaimed set at Download Pilot, Best UK breakthrough band at last months Heavy Music Awards).

Up first however was the whirlwind that is @bvdlvd (pronounced Bad Lad) who most will now be familiar with due to the huge online presence (unless you’ve been living under a rock).BVDLAD defines the new generation of rage hop that is burning though the land & defining the music landscape of the 2020s. With tunes that connect the divided society through a shared sense of injustice.& what a way to get the party started. BVDLAD had the walls shaking & the floor bouncing.

The energy created didn’t dissipate during the interval as we awaited Wargasms entrance. Instead it built a packed crowd into a frothing, writhing mess as they bayed for the presence of Milkie & Sam on stage. And the duo duly obliged. Sprinting on to stage, grabbing the mic & screaming into the faces of the crowd that now simply exploded. That raw energy and momentum kept at maximum as the band ripped through their 10 song set. Every inch of stage covered as the emerging king & queen of this new wave of nu metal subjugated each of us into their fandom. Speakers were toppling (literally) as headbanger after headbanger was reeled off. No let up, no coming up for air… Crowd singing as loud as the band at some stages to the likes of Pyro, Pyro & God of War.The main tour hasn’t even started yet .. Wargasm are set to leave a trail of destruction across the whole UK.This band is the real deal & are going to be headlining the major festivals in the near future, Mark our words.New single & opener Salma Hayek, along with cover stable Lapdance. And crowd fav Backyard Bastards capped a five star ⭐️ performance.
