Review – The Struts

Bristol O2 Academy – 18th July 2022

The swagger of Jagger, the charisma of Mercury, the “blue steel” of Zoolander, but there really is only one @lukestruts & he is a genuine god of rock n roll.

The Struts took the stage to a rapturous welcome for what was akin to a homecoming gig. And Luke (vocals), guitarist Adam Slack, bassist Jed Elliott, and drummer Gethin Davies. Hit that stage like a freight train. Delivering “Prima-donna like me”, “Body Talks” & “Kiss This” before the crowd had time to catch a breath.

And that breathless pace would continue throughout the 17 song set that showcased exactly why the four have been adopted by some of the biggest names in rock history. Able to name the likes of The Foo Fighters, The Who & Motley Crue amongst their fans.

The Struts are living proof that rock n roll is timeless & will never die. And personify what Rock n Roll means. It’s more than just the music it’s the staging, the crowd interaction, the clothes, the attitude. And The Struts walk the walk and talk the talk.

Luke had the crowd eating out the palm of his hand as he conducted multiple back n forths. In between exceptional renditions of “Dirty, Sexy, Money”, “Wild Child” & one of the best covers of “Wicked Game” I’ve ever heard.

The crowd were baying for an encore & would have kept the band on stage all night if they could, but all great things must end. And the band sign off in style with “Could Have Been Me”

This was everything a rock n roll gig should be. And quite simply a MUST SEE LIVE band
