Review – Partiboi69

Motion Bristol, 18th February

It’s difficult to forget the name once you’ve heard it – Partiboi69. The Australian underground DJ scene continues to produce a catalogue of dangerous artists, most recently with Skin on Skin’s Boiler Room set blowing up, and Partiboi is very much a spearhead of this crew.

Having built a huge online cult following to marry with his arsenal of lethal beats and now iconic wonky shades, the man leaves devastation wherever he plays. Not taking yourself too seriously is key to the Partiboi mantra, and likely his rapid success.

With the most absurdly ridiculous social media presence, the man has taken over the techno internet scene whilst away from playing his physical sets. If you have never heard of this enigma, please check out his social media channels. The mantra is to “always keep it 69”, something Partiboi never fails to achieve. Whatever that actually means.

It is clear that this man will continue to take over the underground speed techno music scene, both internationally and back at home down under. He is a must-catch if ever in your town, just make sure to bring a pair of shades.

The sex icon and fashion guru donned his classic lookbook of tight white stringer vest, ASICS trainers and wonky shades, and was emulated by many lookalikes amongst the Bristol contingent, within a packed Motion crowd. No other venue in the city could match such an evening.

Utilising a ridiculous amount of lasers throughout his set, Partiboi unleashed his disruptive breakneck speed electro upon the adoring crowd, while mixing amongst it some true classics such as “Cry For You” (September) which left Bristol in a sweaty fever dream. Watch this space; Partiboi is here to stay.
