Che Lingo Gig Review, 5th September 2019

At The Louisiana.

Young Wizard…..Harry ain’t got nothin’ on him.

Never a truer line spoken, for Che is indeed a wizard. He just happens to use a mic to cast his spells rather than a wand.

A good size crowd packed the upstairs of The Louisiana on Thursday evening for the first night of Che Lingo’s much anticipated debut headline tour “This Risk Is Proof”

And if there was ever any validation required of Che’s rule to live by, which you can also see emblazoned on his forearms, this night was it!

An emotional roller-coaster of an evening, spent in the company of one of the most grounded and humble performers I have ever had the privilege to watch.

Setting the vibe straight out of the box with “Big Doubts” and delivering over an hour of some of the finest flows I’ve seen in a long time, all with the “Same Energy”.

Lyrics with the ability to simultaneously hit the heart and brain. And a performer who knows how to both connect with and work his audience. You would think Che has been doing this for 20 years or more. A natural performer with a positive and infectious vibe that you can’t help, but love.

The ability to make people laugh, smile and sing along with tracks like “Circles” one minute. And switch up to deliver powerful A Capella versions of the ever impactful “Letter To A Dealer” the next.

You could have genuinely heard a pin drop in the upper deck of The Louisiana whilst Che was performing the latter, such was the raw emotion Che was able to convey. The only sound, the occasional shouts of encouragement from the crowd when Che’s voice cracked with real emotion half way through. Truly powerful stuff.

The raw talent on show is destined for much biggest stages. And with Che’s unique ability to connect with his audience through a mixed use of introspective lyrics and extrovert delivery. Coupled with a mind bursting with creativity and ideas means we will be seeing Che Lingo for a very, very long time.

The Bristol Gig Guide is happy to certify this gig as PLATINUM. The first time we have awarded this badge.
