The Mysterines provided a fantastic opening to the Frank Carter and the Rattlesnakes gig at The o2 Academy, Bristol. Lead singer Lia Metcalfe both looked and sounded the part to gig the crowd hyped and ready for a sweaty evening and punk rock fun. Metcalfe, supported by the rest of her band played fantastically to the sold-out venue, which I imagine is a daunting prospect for any band, let alone a band with only 1 album out. Nevertheless, from start to finish this band gave it their all.
The vocal range and power of Metcalfe was particularly impressive and the bass pounded through the venue, encouraging the crowd to get moving. The Liverpudlian alt-rock band gave the Bristol crowd a taste of feminine power before the main act of the night, with Metcalfe taking control of the stage, tambourine in hand.
The stage presence of the entire band was admirable, with bassist George Fafager getting the crowd clapping along throughout the set. You can tell that these guys are not only talented performers but good friends, bouncing off each other constantly on stage. They did a fantastic job at warming up the crowd and showcased some impressive musical talent in the process.
