If investing in bands were a thing, Lake Malice would be a no-brainer. Fronted by the magnetic Alice Guala and powered by guitarist/producer Blake Cornwall, this Brighton-based duo is the alt-metal scene’s equivalent of a rocket stock: explosive, unpredictable, and thrilling to watch rise.

Since their 2021 debut, Lake Malice has been setting the UK ablaze with blistering live shows and a genre-blurring sound that fuses hyperpop and metal. Influenced by Japanese anime and personal trauma, they’ve created a raw yet sharp sonic identity, drawing comparisons to Bring Me The Horizon and Poppy.

The past two years have been meteoric. Nominated for two Heavy Music Awards—“Best UK Breakthrough Artist” and “Best Breakthrough Live Artist”—and championed by tastemakers like BBC Radio 1, Kerrang!, and Metal Hammer, Lake Malice has built a wave of well-earned buzz.

Their triumphant return to Bristol, their first since a March headliner at Rough Trade, capped off a grueling 23-date European tour with Blackout Problems. You’d expect wear and tear after 45 relentless days, but Lake Malice operates at full throttle. Drummer Emily Ainger hammered out precision beats, Blake delivered his signature acrobatics, and Alice balanced intricate vocals with raw screams, giving the crowd the full Malice experience.

The eight-song set featured tracks from their 2023 debut EP Post-Genesis and singles “Magic Square” and “Eternal December,” plus a sneak peek at the unreleased “Nobody Wants To Be You.”

In a post-show chat, Alice teased a massive 2025, with Slam Dunk confirmed and a debut album on the horizon. As they continue redefining alt-metal, Lake Malice is poised to dominate the scene for years to come.

Irish rapper Rejjie Snow made his SWX debut as part of his ambitious “Europe 24” tour, spanning countries like Ireland, England, Germany, and France. The tour promotes PEACE 2 DA WORLD, his latest album filled with jazzy beats and introspective lyrics. Tracks like “Rio De Janeiro” highlight Rejjie’s knack for creating effortlessly catchy, thought-provoking music.

This album marks a reflective period for Rejjie, inspired by fatherhood and trips to Brazil. It slows things down, focusing on self-discovery and savoring life’s moments. These themes seamlessly weave through the music, showcasing his growth as an artist and person.

Taking the stage at 8 PM, Rejjie delivered an intimate set, wrapping up just before 9:30 PM. SWX proved the perfect venue, with stunning lighting and exceptional acoustics enhancing the stripped-back setup—just Rejjie, his mic, and atmospheric visuals. This simplicity placed full focus on the music, creating a strong connection with the crowd.
