The Fleece, 12th April
There are many titles you could throw at Snayx (), top of the pile could well be Britain’s hardest working band or the nicest band in music.
Only 4 months in to 2023 this is the bands 3rd live show in the city. And in amongst huge support tours for Kid Kapichi & The Hara, Charlie (vocals) & Ollie (Bass/Guitar) have somehow found time to release banger loaded EP “Weaponised Youth: Part 1” as well
Striding on to stage with huge, cheeky chappy grins & decked in @fredperry the duo could be any working class lads from any city in the UK. And there in lays the charm of this band. You feel a instant connection. Its like having your mates lament about the state of the country, their relationship, their jobs over a pint down the boozer on a Friday night. And then after drowning your sorrows you all decide fuck it, its Friday night and we’re gonna have a bloody party regardless.
Bristol belts itself in for the insanity that is a Snayx live performance. Anyone in the crowd thinking of simply standing around watching this band perform are in for a rude awakening.
The Alt Punk Rockers are the musical equivalent of a dynamo, high impact, high energy and highly interactive from start to finish.
The sound and lyrics very much in the ball park of Kid Kapichi with its political punk leanings, but with more emphasis on a party vibe. Its a great combo.
The 9 song set leans on the new EP as you’d expect. From chest thumping, fist pumping opener “Work” to “I’m Deranged” the crowd know what’s expected of them & we are away faster than a greyhound leaving the traps.
Charlie leaning out from the stage as far as he can to get right into the faces of the audience. Ollie hammering the strings as he individually picks out members of the crowd and goads them into going harder.
We blitz through “Cigarette”, “H.A.N.G” & the fantastic “Boys In Blue” with Charlie spending as much time amongst the crowd as on stage.
Strains of “we like to party” from the Venga boys blaze alongside a cover of Prodigy’s “Breathe” This is what it must feel like in the boys heads after 5 bottles of buck!?
We round off with Snayx signature party anthem “FAYX” crowd bouncing so hard the venue might need to check for Subsidence.
Snayx left us buzzing to catch them again ASAP!
