REVIEW – Moon Reaper, Fangs, Cylus & Bearpit

Bristol Rough trade – Sep 30th

When Atheris Promotions put on a show they need to start thinking about signing a damage waiver with the venue Rough Trade Bristol was shaking to its foundations thursdays night.

We left the venue feeling like a punch drunk boxer such was the incessant bombardments of metal goodness from BEARPIT, Cylus, Moon Reaper UK, & FANGS

@bearpituk kicked us off, using their time wisely to get the crowd pumped. These Bristol based Metalcore protagonists deliver at pace with a mix of well rounded rifts and spat bars that set the night up perfectly.

@cylusband were next up, having travelled all the way from the Brighton, this was only the second post lockdown show for the groove metal machine. Which showed zero sign of ring rust. Punchy tracks interspersed with some great crowd interaction.

@moon_reaper_uk have undergone a wholesale lineup change since we last saw them, almost two years ago. @blastbeatsxhummus still leads the line meticulously though. It was great to see so many genuine fans of the band, not just gig goers here. As the Doom metallers, that have become firm Bristol favourites, set about rattling the crowds rib cages. This band have a few tracks pushing into anthem category now.

@fvngsuk sealed the deal… quite often you see band intimidated by the crowd. It’s not often you see a band with the sheer presence both physically & musically to intimidate a crowd. It’s rare I immediately search Spotify on the way home from a gig to listen again, but Fang had me doing just that. Rough trade barely big enough to contain that level of performance.

The greatest compliment we can issue is that we’d happily hand over our cash to see all four of these bands live again.
