Review – Lauran Hibberd

Bristol Rough Trade – 20th August 2022

From the depths of the Isle of Wight, Lauran Hibberd’s infectious and delightful energy blossomed throughout Rough Trade. With a unique set up of a gig (that included a pub quiz) it was an engaging gig for sure.

Promoting her debut album “Garageband Superstar” it is full of bouncy pop that is carried by really fun guitars, sarcasm and confidence. Track 3 of this album “Step Mom” is fueled with a charming tsunami of riffage and a hefty vibe to it. It moves into this contagious halftime section which sounds even better live and carried well in a venue like Rough Trade.

Going back to the pub quiz side, the structure of this gig was: song, question, song… etc. Trivial, funny questions really kept the crowd engaged and many giggles filled the room. This was a unique and personal touch that I thoroughly enjoyed.

Hibberd really impressed me. She is adorable, her style is also very cool too. Feel good, pop rock fans honestly this album is worth listening too.
