Review Just Mustard

Rough Trade Bristol 31/5/22

The elegant answer to the minefield of modern shoegaze, Just Mustard portrays a dreamy cacophony of rhythmic drum patterns with a blend of otherworldly guitars and blissful yet chilling vocals.

The crowd was still and solemn, as we had transcended into a space of pure adoration for front person Katie’s hauntingly harmonious vocals. Opening with the surreal track ‘23’ from their latest album, the guitarist used a bow instead of a plectrum leading to a swirl of distinct noise.

Just Mustard is paving the way for this new wave of shoegaze. Their music is like an eclipse, so beautiful and rare that you cannot overlook it.
