Review – Hawxx

The Exchange – 15/12/21

When Hawxx made their Bristol debut by headlining the Louisiana back in October we promised we’d give them a full feature when they returned to the city, such was the incredible impression they left on us.

Little did we know we’d see them again just two months later.

Returning to support @theravenage  @anna.hawxx (lead vocals, guitar) @hannah.hawxx (vocals, guitar) @iman_ahmed_music (vocals, bass) & @jessicadrums (drums) continued where they left off.

Quite how four, incredibly humble, charming & eloquent women off stage transform into the four horsewomen of the metal apocalypse on stage is something to behold.

Soaring three part harmonies that haunt the soul, bass that makes the bones shudder, riffs that invade the subconscious & beats to loosen filings. Couple that with socially aware lyrics, with real depth of meaning & you can see why Hawxx are tipped for huge success in ‘22.

This band doesn’t perform, they reach inside your soul & change it for the better.

The set itself continues to expand. Strong enough that “Low” & “Deadlands” fail to make the cut. Intense performances of “Blunt” & “Death of Silence” produced goose bumps. A first time hearing new single “Hologram” live was the icing on the cake.

When conversations in the bar post show include “phenomenal” & “they are another level” you know this band is pressing all the right buttons.

Bring on 2022… it’s gonna be the year of the Hawk
