Review – Blue Violet

The Exchange – March 18th 2022

Anglo / Scottish duo Blue Violet bought their soul into the Exchange basement last week. The alternative pop / folk duo have many soft ballads that I adore.

This set was stripped back and dreamy. Sarah’s vocals are gorgeously haunting. A particular favourite track of mine is titled ‘White Beaches.’ It is stunningly put together – with echoey vocals and charming guitars it was a pleasure to see the song stripped back with just vocals and acoustic guitar. It really brought out a layer of heartfelt lyricism too.

Blue Violet’s newest single “Rabbit Hole” is beautifully soft but with weighty, honest and real lyrics.

Throughout this set, they played us a collection of newer idyllic songs and I am excited to hear the new album in full.

Finishing off the set with “Asylum” it was very magical, a slightly more upbeat track, it was the perfect closer.  Everyone was completely captivated by the charm and grace of Blue Violet, and I am keen to catch them again in the near future.
