“The most beautiful show in the world right now” – Rolling Stone
“…its message of unity and tolerance are unmistakable.” – Variety
Norwegian rap duo Karpe are bringing their latest musical project Omar Sheriff to the UK for the Diaspora Tour 2023.
Kicking off in Bristol on 7 May, the performance — dubbed “the most beautiful show in the world right now” by Rolling Stone — will also see stops in Glasgow and London.
Karpe and their touring crew are children of a generation of immigrants and refugees from all over the world who fled to Norway to create a home. Now, born out of a mission to unite and include, they’ve made Omar Sheriff together: a multicultural project with an infectious and truly unique energy.
Karpe consists of audiovisual artists Chirag Rashmikant Patel and Magdi Omar Ytreeide Abdelmaguid. Since their debut release in 2004 they have risen to become the biggest band in Norway, constantly raising the bar when it comes to audiovisual concepts, productions and releases. Together the pair have produced hit after hit, been honoured with multiple awards and made both headlines and history with their spectacular live shows and ambitious ideas.
In January 2022, Karpe released their latest musical project ‘Omar Sheriff’. A universe that is packed full of tributes to their background — Chirag is of Indian origin and Magdi of Egyptian — the project nods to their roots through sound, lyrics and visual content. The duo mix Norwegian language with Arabic, Hindi, Gujarati and English in a way nobody has done before them.
Following the critically acclaimed release, Karpe once again made history when they teamed up with Quick Style — a legendary global dance crew whose renowned wedding performance gained viral acclaim last year — for their most spectacular show yet. Now, after completing a record-breaking residency at Spektrum Arena in Oslo that saw ten shows performed in one month with 115,000 tickets sold, Omar Sheriff is set to hit the UK this Spring.
