Lunar Vacation today share a new single and video, ‘Only You‘. The enigmatic video was written and directed by Meg Ha and Hudson McNeese and shot in rural Tennessee.

The song and video see the band stretching out into new sonic territory, with a languid acoustic guitar opening the song. Singer/guitarist Grace Repasky offers:

“This song came about while living at my apartment, finishing college online and reflecting about the present, past and future – thinking about life phases, love, friends, cats. I figured that no matter what phase of life you’re in, you’ll always have yourself, and that relationship with yourself is incredibly important and is often overlooked.”

The Atlanta-based band has had a busy year since their debut album Inside Every Fig is a Dead Wasp was released. They were recently featured as part of TIDAL’s Rising Georgia series, including a documentary about the band. Last month, their Audiotree live session was released. This past autumn they shared Fig Demos on the one-year anniversary of the release of Inside Every Fig is a Dead Wasp and A Living Room Christmas, the band’s take on three Christmas classics.

In 2022, they toured supporting The Beths and Manchester Orchestra, as well as headline tours in the UK, EU, and the US. They closed out the year with two sold-out shows in their hometown of Atlanta. Next month, they will support Rubblebucket on a run of US shows.

Inside Every Fig is a Dead Wasp is a vibrant offering of melodious guitars, propulsive rhythm, and fitful, gripping vocals that take on the contemporary strain of coming of age—navigating the turbulence of identity, including frontperson Grace Repasky’s recent acceptance of themself as nonbinary. The album boasts a celebratory sound, a reckless sense of ecstasy specific to fluid youth and rock solid friendship. Drawing from early influences like Rilo Kiley and Tame Impala, and landing a little closer to contemporary favourites like Alvvays and Slow Pulp, Lunar Vacation make bright music replete with bliss.

The album has garnered praise from tastemakers including NYLONStylistDIYPasteClashStereogumBeats Per MinuteThe FADERBandcampBrooklyn Vegan and more. Read the band’s recent features with UproxxThe AlternativeSecret MeetingSlumber Magazine and Decorated Youth and a conversation with producer Daniel Gleason of Grouplove for The Talkhouse

Grace Repasky (songwriter / vocalist / guitarist) and Maggie Geeslin (songwriter / vocalist / guitarist) met in the eighth grade and immediately began sharing their own music. By the time they were old enough to drive, Lunar Vacation was born. The pair forged demo after demo, took to as many stages as Atlanta could offer them, and added Matteo DeLurgio (synth) and Connor Dowd (drums) to sonically match their songs’ increasingly vibrant spirit. Shortly after graduating high school, Lunar Vacation self-released two EPs — Swell and Artificial Flavors — which landed them quick critical attention, millions of organic streams, and support runs for Remo Drive, Sidney Gish, and SALES.
