At The Louisiana
The elements combined on Tuesday to produce one of the best line ups I have seen in a while…the three acts on the same bill just worked.
Miss Kill arrived on stage like a whirlwind. Poison Crow were hot as fire and Melodi provided a blast of blue ice.
One of life’s most simple rules is never judge a book by it’s cover. And this rang true even more so with Sibling duo Miss Kill as they opened Tuesdays bill.
Proof that great things come in small packages, the teenage sisters Alannah and Felicity are pocket rockets capable of delivering a highly explosive live performance.
No shortage of sass or confidence here as they told the sizeable crowd “You’ll enjoy this one, it’s a banger”. And enjoy they did…. bouncing along as the girls delivered raucous tune after tune.
They throw everything into their set. And I’m sure had their been a television set and a window then it would have gone out of it. A joyous blend of punk attitude mixed with a splash of Nirvana and Hole.
If Miss Kill were the whirlwind, Poison Crow were the Fire…
This band is HOT and have headliners tattooed all over them. The perfect mix of strong front woman, incredible stage presence and charisma oozing from every pore. Backed up by monstrous tunes and a tightness that I have seen bands of 15 years experience fail to master.
Watching Sirin dazzle and mesmerise the crowd as Joe owned the stage like a veteran was quite simply a privilege.
Stand out tracks such as Cyanide and Paradise will woo crowds the length and breadth of the UK as this band rightly take their place on the top of many a bill.
I am already looking forward to catching them again At The Gryphon for a headline slot on Halloween.
The fire died down and the light took on a ambient blue as Melodi prepared to take the stage for her first ever headline slot.
In the familiar surroundings of The Louisiana the band, consisting of Melodi (Vocals), Morgan (guitar), Jennine (bass) and Katherine (drums), looked comfortable and at ease.
If there were any debut headline nerves they certainly didn’t show as Melodi clicked into professional performance mode.
Taking influence from the likes of Within Temptation and Evanescence Melodi delivers a haunting early rendition of popular YouTube hit Ghost. Setting the scene for a dazzling and polished set from the whole band. Morgans guitar solo’s worth the price of admission alone.
There is a poise and demure demeanour to Melodi that bewitches audiences. And conveys a sense of both power and vulnerability at the same time.
Perfect renditions of Twilight Sleep and Buried hypnotised the crowd as Melodi evoked feelings and emotions in those watching that were akin to a lyrical ballet.
The eight song set will grow with the band. As will their undoubted talent for emotional performances backed by solid musicianship.
There is a raw power to this band. Coupled with a burning desire and ambition that will serve them very well as the embark on their journey to much bigger things.
