Bristol Trinity Centre – 7th March 2023
Kicking off her sold out UK/EU tour, Olivia Dean blew the roof off of Bristol’s Trinity Centre on Tuesday 7 March with her stunning jazz-infused pop hits.
London-born artist Olivia, who is inspired musically by the likes of Amy Winehouse and Lauryn Hill, was accompanied by a 4-piece band whilst performing the first date of her tour in Bristol. Although I had never listened to her previously, I was astonished by the English singer’s performance. She is one of those rare artists whose voice sounds equally as flawless in the flesh as it does on record, and I wasn’t the only one who thought this whilst watching her, as I’d overheard other gig goers making similar comments.
During the evening, the British singer-songwriter performed a set list of fifteen songs which included classic Olivia Dean hits such as ‘Ok Love You Bye’, ‘The Hardest Part’, and ‘Be My Own Boyfriend’, as well as newly-released tunes ‘Danger’ and ‘UFO.’ Fans were also treated to a few new unreleased songs, as well as an incredible cover of Kelis’ hit ‘Millionaire.’
Undoubtedly an artist to watch, not only in the UK but globally, Olivia has featured on both Rudimental and Loyle Carner’s albums and continues to impress with her own original material, which she has released across three EPs and a live mini album. Like thousands of her dedicated fans, I am hugely anticipating the release of Olivia’s debut album, whenever that may be, and I can visualise an enormous future for this artist.

First attended gig: My most memorable early concert experience was seeing Eminem in 2014 at Wembley Stadium. This was a very pivotal moment in my life as it reinforced why I love music so much and reignited my passion for it.
First gig shot: The very first artist I photographed live was the DJ and producer Nathan Dawe at SWX Bristol. This was an incredibly fulfilling start to concert photography, as I was on stage with him during his set, and even hung out backstage afterwards.
Dream gig: My top 5 dream artists to one day photograph would be Eminem, J. Cole, Rod Wave, Jon Bellion, and Logic. One of my favourite artists, Juice WRLD, is sadly no longer alive, and I wish I had had the opportunity to see him perform live and photograph him.
