Review @SpyersThe Crofters Rights 11/5/22
Alt Indie, Glaswegian quartet Spyers come out of the blocks on fire back in 2019 with the million stream plus “Otherside” and have followed that early success with a steady stream of effective & catchy singles since. Most recently with Aprils “Honestly”. So we’d been looking forward to catching them live for the first time in support of Soft Cult.
They were on to a winner with me by lashing out the up tempo “See through you” straight out the gate, possibly my favourite track of theirs. The duelling and shared vocal duties of Keira and Emily work so well. And it’s a shock when the 90s esque American Mall soundtrack songs stop and we hear the beautiful, thick Scottish accent through the mic.
It was a very polished and tight performance from a band who seem mature beyond their years. “Fake ID” really sums the bands sound up, beautifully clear vocals over throbbing bass, riffy guitars and belting drum beats. A great set that was thoroughly enjoyed by the busy crowd.
