Following the release of their latest single ‘Money’ and album ‘Past the Point of No Return’ Brighton 4-piece Will And The People release their next single ‘Heaven’. Including April and May tour dates, plus 4 shows supporting Rag’ N’ Bone Man in June, at his personal request. This follows recent sold out shows in London, Brighton and Bristol, as well as supporting The Libertines at the 02 Forum Kentish Town back in December, plus festival plays last Summer at the likes of Boardmasters, where they headlined The View stage, and Green Man, where they headlined the Chai Wallahs stage on closing day.
Recorded at The Libertines’ The Albion Rooms over the course of a week, the band say of the album: “It represents a journey of the soul; from the darkness and depression of a lost and seemingly hopeless position – to a realisation and acknowledgment of needing to change, needing to empower oneself and then finally to a more joyous, un-shakeable happiness towards all aspects of life. Life is beautiful and can be lived with joy and grace. Through staying true to your passions and beliefs and finding, new chapters, happiness is there. The album, “Past the point of no return”, is the meeting of the past and present on our journey into the future. It’s a four-way diary entry for life as we currently know it. ‘The album was fully self-produced by brother combo Will and Jamie who have been working with a vast array of new talent in the UK including; MacWetha, Easy Life, Dora Jar, Wavysof, Milo Meskens, Scuti, WorryWorry, Dylan Frost, Daniel Briskin, Bambie Thug and Lori Asha.
And the band say of new single Heaven: ‘Heaven is a slight enigma on the record in that it’s a pure love song, but nonetheless it felt fully necessary. Talking about the destination, but in a different way. “The grass is always greener on the other side but you keep me alive” We want to keep on moving and exploring, but we must also remember what’s here and therefore the journey itself. When we are travelling we must not forget to stop also and take heed to appreciate what we have. The tempo of this was a relief after 3 or four days of making more atmospheric music and needing something more upbeat to get into.
‘You can tell from the way they play, talk and live that Will And The People aren’t following a formula or trying to follow the pack. They play music because it makes them feel good, feel free and feel whole. Their music is nostalgic, colourful, both melodically and lyrically, and it packs a punch; heavy guitars, catchy synth lines and punchy drums frame these wonderful compositions. Live and in the flesh, they are a force to be reckoned with, and it’s where they truly shine. Working with alacrity, the record features their spiky yet melodic indie sound, and that is evident on ‘Money’. A discussion about looking beyond the hype, it’s a punchy, resolute statement from the band.’ CLASH
With an album titled Past the Point of No Return on the way, and as evidenced by their exceptional new single ‘Money’, Brighton’s Will And The People are ones to watch very closely. Punk in delivery and attitude, the four-piece are glitter-bombing their wild music so as to make an intoxicating blend of stadium rock and punk that is politically un-political.’ GIGWISE
‘Over the last decade or so the outfit have more often than not, done things their way and crafted a soundthat feels both colourful and full of life and rich with melody and lasting appeal.’ CLOUT
