The Mysterines are a truly special band. Emerging like a Phoenix from Liverpool’s Alt rock scene to re-establish the city on the musical map.
Whilst some bands momentum was derailed by the pandemic, others used the time wisely and have come out of the traps on fire. The Mysterines are one such band.
They arrived in Bristol early, Saturday afternoon as part of an in-store tour to promote debut album “Reeling” (which is already receiving stellar reviews across the national music press).
The early start didn’t deter the crowds, sold out in advance the queue for Rough Trade stretches around the block.
And what a treat the 4-piece laid on.
I was expecting 5, maybe 6 tracks if we were lucky? No! The band ring out 9 stripped back tracks from the 12 song album with an incredible performance. Not a single bum note to be heard. And versions of “Under your skin” & “Still call you home” that have left the hairs on my neck still standing. Favourites from the album “Dangerous” & “Old Friends Die Hard” sounded top class.
The crowd shifting from being able to hear a pin drop to rapturous applause time & time again.
To see the band perform in such intimate detail showcased how technically gifted they are as performers. Only going to cement our prediction that this is a group that will be headlining the biggest of stages in the near future (I’ll happily take you money on this prediction)
