New Album – “Where Myth Becomes Memory” – Live at The Fleece, Feb 23rd
UK metal icons Rolo Tomassi dropped brand new album “where myth becomes memory” on Friday. And we had every intention of dropping a review over the weekend, but we couldn’t…
Why? Because this album stopped us dead in our tracks. We played it , mulled it over, went back, played it again… mulled it over some more, played it again… and this continued up until about & hour ago.
This album is so intricately complex, we could listen another 100 times & still find new layers. From the 6 minute opener “Almost always” to the final track “The End Of Eternity” the record takes us on a twisted fairground ride of emotions that cements RT as one of the most creative forces in the UK scene.
The soundscapes are at times epically cinematic. And for a band that have always played with harsh contrasts to now have been able to blend the black & white with multiple shades of grey makes for some very interesting & unique moments. It’s a static explosion of white noise that when interwoven with the sirenesque arrangement of Eva’s melodic voice tingles all the senses. Eva rages against the dying of the light, before instantly catapulting us into an ethereal fairytale.
It’s no wonder the album is peppered with calm moments such as “Stumbling”, you need those moments to come up for air. The record is littered with BIG tunes such as our favourite “Drip”. As well as “Labrynthine” & “prescience”.
One moment it shimmers, the next it rips your senses in half.
And we cannot wait to see them performed LIVE!Bristol gets its chance when the UK tour arrives @fleecebristol on Feb 23rdAnd we will be front & centre
