Bristol O2 Academy, Friday 8th October 2021
Warning, warning, warning, warning
We’ll be upfront here & say this is NOT going to be a unbiased review & quite frankly we don’t care.
We Skindred… always have, always will. They’ve consistently been on our must see at all costs list forever. And it’s not without good reason. Quite simply @bmasterdred @mikeydemus @aryadred & @dnlpgsly bring it! Every single time.
Friday night was easily the best atmosphere we’ve seen in the city post Covid. There was a real crackle of electricity running through the packed crowd before Skindred even appeared on stage. Mosh pits breaking out during Blitzkrieg Bop as we waited for the familiar notes of The Imperial March to drop.
And as soon as they did the crowd exploded. Greeting the foursome like long lost family they hadn’t seen for two years.
From here on it just felt like the best party with long time friends.
The set list was everything you could wish for, from Pressure, that’s my jam, ninja, kill the power, nobody and more. Even strains of Jump Around & Duality making it in.
And it has to be said… not many bands can get away with stopping a set mid way through to conduct a “sandwich eating challenge” (you read that right) with the crowd.
We’ve not seen so many smiles on so many faces in a very long time.
By the time the familiar encore of warning hit, both crowd & band were a gloriously hot, sweaty, smiling mess.
Skindred being Skindred the night had to finish with the Newport Helicopter. Many of the crowd with shirts aloft before the band were even back on stage. It’s simply a sight that will never get old.
Skindred….THANK YOU!
TRASH BOAT
Performers & artists come and go, in order to stay around you need that edge. And from Friday nights set @o2academybris in support of the mighty @skindredmusic we believe @trashboatuk will be with us for a loooong time.
A high octane set, peppered with attitude & charisma, backed up with anthem potential level tracks.
Trash boat feel like they are cruising through the choppy waters of the UK music scene with consummate ease.
Their brand of post hardcore/skate punk gives them a wide remit to connect with an already huge fan base. The band garnering serious pre Covid traction that enabled performances at Download as well as Reading & Leeds festivals.
Whilst the pandemic has smashed a lot of others bands against the rocks. It simply feels like Trash Boat have set the anchor, weathered the storm and are ready to sail again..
(Did we get enough boat related analogies in?)
Great set lads, Bristol appreciated this
RXPTRS
We finally got to see @rxptrs represent their home city of Brizzle and represent they did.. in support of @skindredmusic last night @o2academybris
We knew the buzz surrounding these guys was strong and evidently so did a LOT of others.
Early doors, first band on, but the noise and the stage presence quickly brought the crowd pouring in.
This is a band that tick all the boxes. Ear worm head bangers, solid stage presence and delivery. And some great crowd interaction.
Bristol’s metal scene is in safe hands
Proud to have you reppin our city chaps.
